The keynote speaker, Dr. Elizabeth Poynor, a well known and highly regarded Gynecologic Oncologist who trained at Princeton, University of Pennsylvania and Sloan-Kettering, spoke about the importance of genetic testing in women with a strong family history of breast and ovarian cancer. A dynamic speaker, she discussed the importance of knowing the risks involved with testing positive for BRCA 1 & 2 and taking preventative action. The panel of speakers included Breast Surgeons and Breast Imagers from Montclair Breast Center as well as eye-opening talks on complementary nutrition and psychological issues. An emotional and very personal journey was shared by a Montclair Breast Center patient with the BRCA 2 mutation.
