Magnetic Resonance Imager (MRI). The MRI adds to Montclair Breast Center’s

existing advanced equipment and sophisticated technologies like digital
mammography and breast ultrasound, allows the nationally recognized team

care available. Montclair Breast Center is a premier, multidisciplinary
breast center, specializing in a personalized approach to early detection
and treatment of breast cancer. Montclair Breast Center is a virtual breast
hospital where patients can receive immediate test results and timely
treatment.
"Having the only GE 1.5Tdedicated breast MRI fulfills
our goal to provide our patients with the most up-to-date technology available,"
said Nancy Elliott, founder and director. "Breast MRI is the greatest
advance in early detection since mammography and will further our goal
of increasing breast cancer cure rates for our patients. We are proud
to offer our patients any option needed for breast care under our roof."
MRI of the breast has been evolving over the past decade and is now emerging as an important clinical tool that will revolutionize the way breast cancer is diagnosed, staged and treated. The highly sensitive imaging modality detects malignancy within the breast and unlike mammography, uses no radiation.
An important advantage of breast MRI is that it excels in detecting small breast cancers in women with dense breasts, augmented breasts and breasts that have undergone breast conservation with radiation therapy. Mammography can fail to detect up to 40% of breast cancers in women with dense mammographic patterns. For these women, MRI can make all the difference.
Currently, Montclair Breast Center detects 92% of newly diagnosed regular patients with breast cancer at stage zero or stage one. Detection at these early stages greatly increases a woman’s chance of surviving breast cancer. Now, with fully dedicated breast MRI, even more women at Montclair Breast Center will have the advantage of early detection.
