Marcie
Hertz, MD FACS
Breast Surgeon at Montclair Breast Center, Montclair, New Jersey
Dr. Hertz has dedicated herself to the practice of breast surgery since joining the Center in 1994. She received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University where she was elected Phi Beta Kappa, and received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed a general surgery residency at the Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center.
Dr. Hertz’s interest in breast diseases began when she was an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. As the only woman on the staff of 45 surgeons, she was sought out by female patients with breast complaints. She became the staff expert in breast diseases and eventually the Director of the Breast Service.
Dr. Hertz and her husband, a vascular surgeon practicing in West Orange, live in Short Hills. When they are not in the operating room they are on the athletic fields watching their 3 sons play baseball and soccer.
"In the field of medicine most surgeons are men. I chose to become a breast surgeon in order to bring my feminine perspective to deal with this particularly female disease, and develop strong relationships with my patients. Women deserve a specialist when it comes to diagnosing breast cancer." —Marcie B. Hertz, M.D.
